Airbags

An airbag is a flexible membrane or envelope, inflatable to contain air or some other gas. Air bags are most commonly used for cushioning, in particular after very rapid inflation in the case of a collision.

Seatbelt A seat belt is a harness designed to hold the occupant of an automobile or other vehicle in place if a collision occurs.

Vehicle safety systems Vehicle safety systems are designed to protect occupants during accidents. They include primary systems, such as bumper bars & seat belts; and secondary systems, such as air bags.

Crash sensors Sensors are located behind the front bumper, headlights, dash and doorsill or 'B' pillar. Some manufacturers also place sensors within the electronic control unit.

Seat belt pre-tensioners There are two types of seat belt pre-tensioner, mechanical & electrical. Seat belt pre-tensioners are used to tighten the seat belt in a severe frontal accident.

Tire pressure monitoring systems Automated Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems or TPMS provide a means of reliable and continuous monitoring of the vehicle tire pressure and are designed to increase safety, decrease fuel consumption and improve vehicle performance.
